1day summit Mt.Olympus (2.918m) by secret path
Activity Description
Day Climb to Mytika from a secret path! We conquer the top of the emblematic Olympus following an alternative route unknown to the general public. We enjoy the beauties of the southwest side of Olympus, which leads us to Mytikas.
For the Day Climb in Mytika we start from Kalivia, Elassona. With four-wheel drive Jeep type vehicles we follow a dirt road of about 20 kilometers, which leads us to the Christakis Shelter, at an altitude of 2,400m. We cross impressive alpine slopes, while in some places the slope is so big that we feel that we are flying! During the route in the alpine zone we enjoy the impressive landscape and if we are lucky we can meet the added Wild Goat of Olympus. At Christaki Shelter we leave our vehicles and continue on foot. We follow the international mountaineering path E4 that leads us to the col of Skoli at 2,830m and then to Kakoskala, at 2,866m.
At this point, we take some time to admire the amazing view of the glacial basin Megala Kazania and the other peaks of Olympus, wear the special equipment and start for Mytikas, the highest peak in Greece at 2,918m.
There is also the possibility of climbing to Skolio (2912m), the second-highest peak in Greece, which has easier access: 3-4 hours total hiking and does not require the use of insurance (helmet-bodrier-rope).
