Hiking at Xerovouni
A few words about Xerovouni ...
Xerovouni is a limestone mountain range in Central Evia and is essentially a continuation of the mountain range of Dirfi. Its highest peak, Portaris, has an altitude of 1,453 m. The vegetation of the mountain consists mainly of pines and firs and secondarily of beech and chestnut forests.
Our route…
The route we will take starts at the point 'Glyfada' and ends at the plateau of Xerovouni, where we will enjoy the view of the peaks and the imposing wall.
We start our hike enjoying the admirable view of the majestic Dirfi Mountains on our left and the Xerovouni mountain range on our right, which are awe-inspiring as they are the highest part of Evia, with an altitude of 1,743 m and 1,453 m respectively.
Then we will walk on our path, in a crowded forest, rich in flora. Don't be confused by its name, as Xerovouni is nothing but "dry", since there are many springs and great vegetation of evergreen and deciduous trees! As we ascend the landscape will become alpine with majestic rocks embracing the top!
Our goal is to climb to the top, but in case the weather does not allow us to do so, we will move on a path at the foot of the mountain in the spruce forest and we will enjoy images of unique beauty thanks to the rich vegetation, springs, and streams!
