Via Ferrata at Moni Kleiston, Parnitha on Jan. 8
Activity Description
You do not need to be a good climber or have the perfect equipment, you can just have a great time climbing a route "Via Ferrata". Provided, of course, that you endure the heights.
For those wondering what a Via Ferrata is, we explain: "The Via Ferrata is a way to reach high mountains and steep cliffs without the time-consuming equipment and ropes normally needed for climbing."
"Basically, it is a rope nailed to the rock that you follow tied to it on the way. You can hold on to it - if you fall, the idea is that the rope and the special tie will hold you in place. ”
In addition to the cable and depending on the difficulty, in a via ferrata one can find other aids such as iron stairs mounted on the rock, stairs, suspension bridges etc
This is a unique opportunity to discover the beauty of the mountains and explore trails that not many travelers can experience. And more than that it is an opportunity for you to face your fear of heights and say "yes I did" !!

VIA FERRATA
As the name implies, the idea is Italian. Immediately after World War I in the Dolomites, people began to climb the mountains taking advantage of the extensive infrastructure left behind by the soldiers. The routes were impressive and led you to places inaccessible in another way. The development of tourism in the area led to the preservation of the old and the creation of new routes. Right now thousands of people are visiting the Dolomites in the summer to climb one of the thousands of amazing routes.
A via ferrata can be small and short (200-300 m.), But it can be long and reach 1000 m. Requiring experience in the mountains. One can even make multi-day routes passing from one via ferrata to another.
A via ferrata is not as demanding as a climbing route. It is of course more demanding than simple hiking.
It is addressed to all those who do not have height phobia and have a satisfactory physical condition.
Via Ferrata For Begginers
Is Via Ferrata for everyone?
Anyone with a minimum level of fitness can follow a Via Ferrata trail. Of course, the more difficult the trail, the higher the level of fitness and mountaineering skills should be. In our excursions we choose routes of difficulty mainly A, B and C, but there is the possibility of approaching more difficult routes….
Can I "get out" of a Via Ferrata route whenever I want?
The answer may vary depending on the route of the Via Ferrata you are going to follow. Most of the routes do not offer an exit route, so in this case you will have only 2 options: either return the same way you came or go forward and reach the end of the route. So before you start a Via Ferrata, make sure you are prepared and properly informed about the difficulty and physical requirements of the route
What equipment do we need for the Via Ferrata?
At every Via Ferrata activity you must have the following basic equipment:
- Helmet: will protect you from any stones that your front can throw
- Via Ferrata Kit: the most important part of the equipment - it consists of two carabiners with automatic safety and the damping belt (damper) that will keep you in a possible fall. With the help of the two carabiners, we are permanently secured to the cable.
- Hiking boots or approach with Vibram sole
- Bodrier: keeps us safe with our damper in case of fall.
- In addition to the above basic equipment that we mentioned, we also suggest the following that you should have with you:
- Thick leather gloves that will protect your hands from the razors on the rope
- Personal private pharmacy
- Headlight and spare batteries
- Water and snack
- Clothes suitable for the season and the weather you choose to go
