Explore Nature Hiking Crossing Grammeni Oxia
Crossing the massif that is considered the little brother of the mountains that surround it, Vardousia, Giona and Velouhi.
Our hike starts on Saturday morning and moves along a ridge with gentle inclines and soft tread.
The view throughout the route is unique with Vardousia, Giona, Oiti, Kaliakouda, Othry, Agrafa all around you offering incredible images.
The route passes by the shelter where we will spend the night and eat and get strength for the second day.
On the second day we will start early to finish our hike at noon.
The beech forest is the main protagonist of the region.

A mountain with a dominant characteristic of dense forest cover with Beech trees, with gentle slopes smooth slopes and extraordinary beauty.
Oxia is a beautiful but little-walked mountain in Greece that rises colorfully between the famous massifs of Roumeli. It is impressive that the ridge of this small mountain forms the border between four prefectures of Central Greece (Fthiotida, Evrytania, Aitoloakarnania and Fokida) something unique in our country.
Its forest is geographically the southernmost beech forest in Europe.
Its highest peak, Sarandaina, has an altitude of 1923 m. It is exposed to the northern currents that descend from Velouhi and is considered one of the coldest places in Greece.
The icy wind never stops blowing and dense fog is its most common visitor.
