2 day Sea Kayak - Wild Camping | Navarino Bay on 12/9

Our destination is the bay of Navarino, where the Ionian Sea embraces the coasts of Messinia. An area of ​​special beauty integrated into the environmental program Natura 2000 that includes the homonymous bay, the famous beach of Voidokilia, the wetland of the lagoon of Gialova, and the uninhabited island of Sfaktiria.

In this two-day program of activities, we will have the opportunity to enjoy to the fullest the experience of a two-day sea kayaks trip escaping away from culture and to explore most and the most important sights of the historic bay of Navarino and the uninhabited island of Sfaktiria. For two days we will sail quietly in the clear blue waters of the bay with the unique company of the feeling of freedom, autonomy, and independence that our Kayaks give us. We will also have the opportunity to grow (if we wish) at night under the moonlight, experiencing a unique experience, definitely unprecedented for most !!!

TWO-DAY PROGRAM

SATURDAY 12 | 09 | 2020:

Meeting in Gialova at 12.00 and departure from Gialova for a magical kayaking tour in the historic bay. The magic of rowing at the best time of the day with the colors of the setting sun is what gives the trip a special experience. At dusk, we reach the beach where we will camp.

We will spend the night on a flat and shady plateau on Divari beach in the hospitable bay of Navarino a few meters from the point where we will go out by kayak. At this point we will taste homemade food and wine next to the camp and enjoy the magical evening. We observe the night skydome and locate known constellations.

SUNDAY 13 | 09 | 2020:

We wake up at 08.00 and pick up our camp. We enjoy our breakfast and get ready to leave. We paddle with our sea kayaks to the southern tip of Sfaktiria island where we explore its impressive coastline with hidden coves, caves, and rock gardens while observing the rich marine life of the area.

Stop on a deserted beach for relaxing moments, swimming, and snorkeling in the turquoise waters. We continue our course towards the impressive vertical rocks of the southern entrance of the bay. We explore the imposing monolith of the islet of Fanari with the impressive arch. We take the way back sailing around the bay and open to the city of Pylos ending at the starting point in Gialova at about 15.00

OVERNIGHT: we will spend the night on a flat level and shady plateau on Divari beach in the hospitable bay of Navrinos a few meters from the point where we will go kayaking. At this point we will taste homemade food and wine next to the camp and enjoy the magical evening.

LIGHT - WATER - TELEPHONE: on the beach, there is no access to drinking water, electrical outlet, telephone devices beyond our mobile phone. It is recommended to all participants to have with them at least 3 liters of water and their mobile phones fully charged. However, at a distance of 1.5 km, there is a canteen with WC and at a distance of 4 km in the village of Gialova

WC & HYGIENE FACILITIES: at the point of the camp Divari Beach in the Bay of Naurin there are no toilets and showers. The alternative is a small pit in the ground, at least 100 meters from the space where the tents will be set up. We will provide you with a paper bag and a shovel to dig and then cover the pot.

Wet, antibacterial wipes are also very useful in camping and travel in general as they are the easiest and fastest solution for freshness and cleanliness. Do not hesitate to have with you the necessary personal items and personal hygiene items such as Wet wipes, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Personal Pharmacy, Contact Lens Liquid, etc, Food, Electrolytes.

Degree of difficulty

The excursion is suitable for everyone, even for children aged 16 and over. A basic condition is that there are no movement problems and that there is a good physical condition. No previous experience required.

Kayaks give us the opportunity to travel by sea carrying our personal belongings. However, space is limited. This means that we will have with us ABSOLUTELY necessary. We avoid bulky items, heavy jackets, lots of clothes, large bags.
