5 Days Mountain Survival Course

A five-day course aimed at beginners of all ages without special abilities in Kissavos mountain.

Kissavos is located northeast of the prefecture of Larissa and south of Tempi and Pinios opposite Mount Olympus, which is geologically a continuation and from which it is separated by the valley of Tempi.

Kissavos is a huge botanical garden, of the abundance and variety of its vegetation. Evergreens-broadleaves, such as arias, gorse, and heather, but also abundant herbs (thyme, oregano) grow low on the mountain, while higher up the oaks, chestnuts, cranberries, maples, hedges, lindens, and black pine prevail, with which a small part of this zone was reforested. From 500 to 1600m, mainly on the northern and eastern slopes of the mountain, the beech (Fagus sylvatica) dominates either in virgin forests or in mixed with fir. In the north, there are many chestnut groves, from which chestnuts and little timber are produced almost exclusively.

Here all the knowledge is acquired by using presentations and practice in nature in an easy way without any physical effort.

The visitor is taught the necessary survival techniques that will keep him alive in an eventually difficult situation. In addition to the four basic principles of survival (fire, water, shelter, food) subjects such as survival psychology, orientation, map, compass, knots, search and rescue, and much more are also taught which adds confidence to those who love nature escapes.
