Aegina is full of history, culture and folklore. You will visit numerous religious sites like St Nicholas, the whitewashed chapel of the port, the churches Myrtidiotissa and Panagitsa as well as the city Cathedral. Among the significant historic sites are the house of Constantine Kanaris, a hero of the Greek War of Independence. The fortified tower-house of Markellos and the Ancient city port. Our tour finishes at the traditional fish market and the Folklore museum.

ITINERARY DETAILS
Once you arrive at the Aegina port, your host will be waiting for you to greet you and give you your self guided pack, so you can go off to explore the city of Aegina.
The city tour starts from the modern port entrance. After visiting St Nicholas, the whitewashed chapel of the port, we head inland. First we see the house of Constantine Kanaris, one of the heroes of the Greek War of Independence. We continue past Myrtidiotissa and St Nicholaos churches, towards the fortified tower-house of Markellos. We then head towards the buildings of Kapodistrias’ administration: The Governor’s house, the old library, the city Cathedral, the old theater, and the old orphanage. We then head towards the sea front and city center, passing by Panagitsa church, the old town hall, the traditional fish market and the Folklore museum. The tour concludes at the ruins of the Ancient port and city, for an optional visit at the Temple of Apollo and the Archaeological Museum.
