Itinerary:

Day 1

We start our journey driving west to the CORINTH CANAL, a place of great historical and commercial importance to the city of ancient Corinth. At  Ancient Corinth we will visit the archaeological site there and the Bema where Saint Paul gave his speech to the Corinthians.

Then we will travel south, to MYCANAE which was the city of Agamemnon and the center of the Mycenean civilization. You will explore the ancient castle and museum of this unique site. We will also enjoy lunch in a local restaurant.

Continue on to EPIDAURUS and visit the ancient theatre. The UNESCO World Heritage-listed monument is reputed to be the birthplace of Apollo’s son Asklepios, the healer, and was the most celebrated healing center of the classical world. Epidaurus is probably most famous for its theatre, one of the best preserved classical Greek buildings, and is still used today due to its amazing acoustics.

After Epidaurus, we will head to the Venetian-style town of Nafplio, the first capital of Greece. You will have plenty of time to walk the town, explore the alleys and enjoy shopping.

Day 2

The next morning, after 3 hours you will arrive at the famous Monemvasia. Monemvasia is a town and a municipality in Laconia, Greece. The town is located on a small island off the east coast of the Peloponnese. The island is linked to the mainland by a short causeway 200m in length. Its area consists mostly of a large plateau some 100 meters above sea level, up to 300 m wide and 1 km long, the site of a powerful medieval fortress. The town walls and many Byzantine churches remain from the medieval period.

There you will spend almost the whole day to admire the sights with my help and to enjoy traditional dishes in combination with local wines.

Accommodation will be in Monemvasia.

Day 3

Next morning, after your breakfast we will head to the world-famous Mystras. Mystras is a  is a fortified town and a former municipality in Laconia, Peloponnese, Greece. Situated on Mt. Taygetos, near ancient Sparta, it served as the capital of the Byzantine Despotate of the Morea in the 14th and 15th centuries, experiencing a period of prosperity and cultural flowering. The site remained inhabited throughout the Ottoman period when it was mistaken by Western travelers for ancient Sparta. In the 1830s, it was abandoned and the new town of Sparti was built, approximately eight kilometres to the east.

There, you will have 2 hours to discover the Mystras Castle. Before you take the way back to Athens, you will have a stop to Sparta, to enjoy traditional Greek food.

As soon as finish your lunch, you will make your way back to Athens. It will be approximately 3 hours of driving.
