Full description
The day starts from your hotel at 9:00 am. A luxury minivan with a professional driver and a kind and pleasant English-speaking group leader is waiting for you to leave an unforgettable experience.
1st stop: The artificial lake of Marathon. The lake is a paradise of natural beauty in the heart of Attica. A green landscape surrounds the calm waters of the lake creating an idyllic recreation area. The Marathon Dam is unique in the world because it is completely clad in white marble, the same marble that made the Acropolis and the Parthenon. A walk along the dam will leave you speechless.
2nd stop: We visit the starting point of the historic marathon road, where every year thousands of runners from all over the world gather to run the historic 42km route, in the name of peace. This is followed by a short visit to a private area and a surprise awaits those who take part in the excursion.
3rd stop. We visit the Marathon Historical Museum* with its impressive ancient finds. Then we will walk to the field of the epic battle fought by the Greeks against the Persians. We will mentally transport ourselves to the history where the Greeks defeated the largest army in the world at the time, the Persians. (every Tuesday the museum is closed)
4th stop: Schinia Beach. We continue our journey walking through the protected pine forest of Marathon and find ourselves at the long sandy beach of Schinias with its deep blue waters. Swim, relax, and enjoy the Greek sun and sea. The visit to the beach is for swimming and this reason, it only takes place from May to October.
5th stop: Tavern with Greek BBQ. The experience culminates with a meal at a traditional local tavern. We enjoy authentic BBQ and taste dishes from our Greek culinary cuisine such as souvlaki tzatziki and Greek salad.
The Marathon private tour offers the visitor a unique excursion experience that is completed in half a day from 9:00 in the morning to 3:30 in the afternoon!
