Activity Description

On this Half-Day tour enjoy short walks exploring small villages, visit the historical monuments of “Panachrados” Monastery and the Upper Castle, and discover the “unknown” area of Korthi.

This one-day island tour with a modern air-conditioned 8-seat minivan and a private chauffeur guide takes you to the authentic side of Andros. Discover the small picturesque villages and visit the most important monuments in the area. The tour ends at the seaside small town of “Ormos”.

This sightseeing hopping tour first takes us to the fortified Byzantine monastery of Panachradou with its impressive architecture lying on the mountain slopes of Gerakonas. Admire the beautiful chapel and dome and the astonishing view over the valley. The tour continues to the verdant landscapes of the valley of Dipotamata, where we stop for a short half-hour walk to visit the area and the old stoned watermills. Dipotamata is a small river of extreme natural beauty, about 7 km, crossing a long valley of environmental interest. The natural environment is unspoiled, a shelter to a variety of animals and birds. The most important structures of the area are the 22 watermills that survived in the entire gorge.

Our next stop is the Upper Castle, built by the Venetians on the top of the slopes above Kothi Bay. A few uphill steps to reach the archaeological site but the unique view of the Aegean is breathtaking!

Here we have the opportunity to admire traces of houses, churches, and cisterns along the beautiful church of Panagia Faneromeni.

The day tour continues as we pass by the villages of Paleokastro, maybe the most unspoiled villages on the island, as they are renowned for the preservation of their culture and tradition. Kohilou, the captain’s village with the traditional “kafeneio”, is waiting for you to discover it. In Lardia and Episkopio discover the traditional stone houses, windmills, dovecotes, and scenic springs. This time we stop to explore Episkopio on another short walk to the beautiful stone bridge and the watermill.

The tour now guides us to the charming side of Korthi Villages. Aidonia is a charming village worth seeing, with a beautiful old marble spring and imposing castle-houses (pirgospita). Don’t miss the traditional Amonakliou and the Medieval Moussionas. Our next destination is Ormos, where we have enough time to relax, eat, swim or visit for a swim the “Grias Pidima” beach (optional transfer)

It is the most popular beach on Andros because of the narrow rock standing in the sea.

Short walks take place to visit the most important sites and explore the most beautiful villages of the island, known for the preservation of their customs and tradition and the rural landscape.

Discover the authentic side of the island by touring the villages.
