Hiking & Archery at Skitis Lake, Mavrovouni Kissavos
Activity Description
We discover experientially and recreationally the unknown and eerie lake of Skete with a short walk and get introduced to archery!
The lake of Skitis, near the village of the same name, impresses with its otherworldly landscape. A scenic 2km drive through a chestnut forest leads to this special place, which seems to be... from another planet!
On the coast of Larissa, above the sandy beaches of Agiokampos, lies the massif of the Black Sea Kissavos. A mountain that rises between Kissavos and Pelion with a view of the Aegean and the Athos peninsula on one side and the vast Thessalian plain with its colorful sunsets on the other. An ideal landscape for photography.
At its foot is built Skiti, a beautiful mountain village, with a unique view. From there we start a short walk to the fire station. Our route is uphill for a while with little altitude and moves through a beautiful forest, to enjoy the wonderful view of the Aegean. We descend and reach an otherworldly landscape, the amazing lake.
Lake Skitis has an area of 200 acres and a depth of 2 to 7 meters and looks eerie, as if taken from a movie!
The impressive fact is that the lake is not a natural phenomenon, but was the result of human intervention some years ago by the then prefecture, which built a water reservoir to irrigate the farmland.
The tree trunks in the water create an impressive landscape and the images are breathtaking!
This is followed by practice and initiation into archery and shooting.
