Activity Description
Hike through the largest National Park of Crete and one of the most important of Greece, explore the Cretan great outdoors the history and culture of a unique creation of nature. Spot rare flora, οbserve unique wildlife and explore the geological evolution of Crete.
Early in the morning you will be picked up from the designated spot of your choice in Chania area by our collaborator driver and your trekking guide and you will be transfered at the entrance of the National Park.
After a small break for coffee and logistic arrangements you will start your hike through the notorious Samaria Gorge. The largest National Park of Crete and one of the oldest of Greece, the fact that it has been awarded as a worlds Biosphere reserve by Unesco makes it also one of the most popular hikes of Greece.
At the end of the hike you will have time for a swim in the crystal clear waters of the Libyan sea, maybe taste some local specialties if you choose to and eventualy get on board the ferry boat that will take you to the next road access spot in order to be picked up and return to your base.
At all times our trekking guide will be with you, helping you organise the time in the gorge, giving you interesting informations about the national park, safety and taking care of all the logistics regarding transfers etc.
