Epidaurus is well known for its impressive ancient amphitheatre and archeological site of Asclepius. The whole area was a place where pilgrims and travelers would go to in ancient Greek time to seek health, both spiritual and physical. Besides the beauty of nature in this area you will be able to experience this positive vibe until today.We will take you to the bay at the village of Epidaurus for leisure, swimming and snorkeling.
While wearing your sea mask or goggles you will see The Sunken City at only a depth of 1,5 meters and very close to the coastline. The ancient ruins that are visible are the remains of a Roman villa (2nd century AD) close to the Agora that was located opposite the ancient port under the Acropolis of ancient Epidaurus.The water is so clear, you will be able to see walls, huge jars, support structures, and parts of floor slates. After snorkeling and leisure time we will take you for sightseeing in the village of Epidaurus. You will see the small theatre of Dionysius, and on the way back you will be able to visit the famous amphitheater of Epidaurus. Driving back to Nafplio, our tour escort will take you to a Byzantine church, remains of a pyramid, and the oldest bridge of the world from Mycenaean time.
And we will finish the day with fresh homemade pomegranate ice cream!
