Activity Description
A unique 44km Trek in the heart of Greece - Circular crossing of Oita in 2 days
Our route starts from the village of Ypati Fthiotidas where in the first part we follow the classic path to Kastania.
The uphill on the first leg of the trail is steep and a slow pace is essential. Going up, we will see the castle of Ypati and the plateau of Rodokalos.
The course of the first day is 21 km and the peak of Turla at 1779m is also the highest point.
Then we start our descent to Neochori, where we will spend the night. Our overnight stay will be in a beautiful guest house and our lunch in a picturesque tavern in the area.
After resting, we will take the path of the shepherds moving, we will ascend through a fir forest and then we will ascend passing west and north of Pyrkakia in an alpine field. The route continues to the east, climbing up to the pass from where we can now see the peak of Pyrgos.
From the top we will move north, initially descending a few meters and then walking on an easy field until we climb to the last peak (Alykaina) of the route which is 3km from Pyrgos.
From here begins the gentle descent to Livadies, we will enter the path to reach the plateau of Rodokalos and then to Ypati.

Oiti is a mountain in Central Greece and occupies part of the prefectures of Fthiotida and Fokida, formerly known as Katavothra. Oiti has Giona to the south, Vardousia to the west and Kallidromos to the east. Many water streams and gorges form on its slopes.
Mornos and Gorgopotamos originate from Oiti, which is the largest gorge in Greece. Important villages on the slopes and at the foot of Oita are Pauliani, Ypati and Mavrolithari.
Its highest peak, Pyrgos, has an altitude of 2,152 meters and the second is Grevenos at 2,114 meters.

Oiti is a declared National Park and is one of the most beautiful in Greece] It is overgrown with firs that belong to the Kephallinian fir species. There is also a wide variety of broad-leaved trees, such as plane trees, thorn trees, willows.
The fauna of Oita is rich and includes widespread species, as well as small populations of wolf, wild goat and deer. Since 2003, the sporadic presence of bears has been reported.
