• It is located in the Phthiotis region, giving its name to the village. It originates from Mount Oiti and flows towards the Spercheios plain, where it contributes to the Spercheios River shortly before its mouth into the Malian Gulf. Its total length is 8 kilometers. In ancient times, the river flowed directly into the Malian Gulf, but due to continuous sediment deposition and the expansion of the Lamia plain, it eventually merged with the Spercheios River.
• Above the Gorgopotamos River, at the "Kangelogefyro" location and about 800 meters from the Historic Bridge, there is an underground tunnel and three beautiful waterfalls that are visited daily by many hikers to enjoy the natural beauty and coolness during the summer months.
• River trekking involves walking through the water, discovering hidden paths, and passing through naturally formed pools and waterfalls. Running the river creates an exciting challenge, as participants must adapt to the water currents, navigate through rocks, and understand the natural formation of the gorge.
• The Gorgopotamos Gorge offers impressive landscapes with tall cliffs, colorful stones, and waterfalls that create beautiful cascades. During the journey, participants will have the opportunity to explore the rich flora and fauna of the area and connect with nature.

• Free transportation is provided to the river from the village of Gorgopotamos, along with neoprene suits and headlamps. We meet in the village of Gorgopotamos, and each participant continues with their own means to DEYA Lamia.
• From there, we enter the river and, after a 45-minute walk, reach the 300-meter-long cave. We walk inside the cave to the 20-meter waterfall.
• The return journey follows the same route, offering a stunning experience that combines a river and the rarely-seen beauty of the Gorgopotamos River Cave.
