Known for their calm nature, amazing social skills, and the fact that they are very stable on all kinds of terrain, donkeys are perfect companions for short walks or longer hikes.
Donkeys are not fast runners. They will relax you and give you the opportunity to enjoy the surrounding nature.
Take advantage of the opportunity and explore off the beaten path. Along with the donkeys, Grisella, Wiolätta, Dixie, and Louise, you can discover the beauty and rich history of Kefalonia in a traditional way. Enjoy stunning views over the bay of Sami, and the evergreen valleys of the area, and immerse yourself in the island's history.
The Donkeys
Meet Grisella, Violetta, Dixie, and Louise. They are between 11 and 26 years old and are very friendly to everyone who treats them well. They have been trained by myself, and we know what they are capable of doing. They enjoy a good brushing, and they will offer you their hooves to clean if you ask them to. They are comfortable wherever you tie them for a break and can carry supplies and children weighing up to 50 kilograms (110 pounds). My gentle "ladies" walk with anyone who understands that if you are kind to a donkey, they will reward you with loyalty and a memorable experience.
Description
- The "Donkey Ladies" will take you to the two attractions in the area: Melissani and Drogarati Cave. This trip passes through olive groves and follows the road through small forests with cypresses, always with a stunning view of the Bay of Sami. Along the beach, you will hike to Melissani Cave. After visiting the cave, you have the opportunity to rest on the beach, have a meal, and swim before we head to Drogarati Cave. Enjoy the coolness and take your time to wander through the shops. The return route to the stable leads through Greek farms and olive groves.
- Donkeys should not carry more than 20% of their own weight. To ensure the donkeys remain healthy, we welcome individuals weighing up to 50 kilograms for a ride.
- Before each Donkey Trek begins, you have the opportunity to clean and brush your donkey. Together, we will saddle the donkeys and store supplies in bags.
- You will receive an introduction on how to interact with the donkey - what to do and what not to do.
Cost
- Each donkey €25 per hour. (one adult & 1 child per donkey).
- For each additional person, an additional charge of €5/hour.

- Familiarization and preparation of the donkeys before the actual hike.
- Information on proper care and handling of the donkeys.
- Insurance coverage.
- Riding helmets.
- Time for both young and old! we are never in a hurry!

- Greek picnic: €6 per person.
We provide a delicious and light Greek picnic on our 2-4-hour tours. Enjoy creamy feta in Kefalonia, with fresh bread and delicious olives from our production. Together with fresh tomatoes (in the summer months outside our garden in the stable), with oregano from our harvest. The cool homemade lemonade will cool you down.

Cancellation policy
- Cancellation 72 hours or more prior to the agreed activity starting date. You are automatically reimbursed for the full activity price.
- Cancellation between 24 hours and 72 hours prior to the agreed activity starting date. You are entitled to a 50% reimbursement
- Cancellation 24 hours or later are what we call last-minute cancellations. No reimbursements will be effected
* If the activity is canceled by the activity provider (due to weather, non-completion of minimum entries, force majeure, etc.), the price of your activity, is refunded in full.
