The famous village of Steni is built on the slopes of Mount Dirfys, at an altitude of 440 meters and owes its picturesqueness mainly to the running waters that flow through the village, the imposing plane trees and the traditional stone-built houses with tiled roofs.
Above Steni, rises an impressive geological structure rich in legends, the Rock of Steni which consists mainly of limestone rocks. The Rock, with its imposing existence, creates an incredible combination of natural beauty and a unique landscape, which includes high rocks, caves and a unique view of the Dirfi massif, as well as the Euboean Sea.

Our route
Steni - Vrachos Stenis - Steniotiko Rema - Steni (circular route)
Starting from the central square of Steni, we begin our beautiful hike uphill towards the imposing Rock. We move on a forest road, which used to connect the villages of the area, with a gentle uphill slope and an uninterrupted view of the dominant Dirfi. After about 1.5 hours of hiking we reach the top of the Rock (630m.) and enjoy the impressive panoramic view of the village from above. Then, we descend, leaving behind deciduous chestnut, cedar and fir forests and enter a path with centuries-old plane trees to meet the - part of the Natura network - Aesthetic Forest of the Strait and the stream of the same name.
Steniotiko Rema is surrounded by rich leafy vegetation, offers a beautiful natural landscape and plays an important role in the local ecology and the preservation of the natural environment of the area.
We follow the flow of the stream along the banks and enter the settlement. We wander through the narrow streets of the village, looking at the houses and the well-kept yards, the running water, the Lead Steps and the fountains. The wonderful sound of running water and the amphitheatrically built houses on the slopes of Dirfi will enchant you!
Our route ends in the square of Steni, with free time to experience its traditional atmosphere and the friendly hospitality of the local residents. You can choose one of the many picturesque cafes and famous meat taverns or sweet shops in the area.
