Two-day Excursion with Camping & Hiking in Drakolimni Verliga on 4-5 / 6
Activity Description
Our adventure continues with a camping excursion !!
We will camp on the shores of Verliga, the legendary Drakolimni of Pindos and we will conquer the highest peak of Lakmos!
Lakmos, or Peristeri, is an elongated mountain range, with a series of high peaks that divide the two geographical regions of Epirus and Thessaly.
In the center of the mountain, at an altitude of 2,050 m., Is the most famous alpine plateau of our country, the Verliga.
Its name derives from the Vlach "Vrigga" which means circle. To the north rises the highest peak of Lakmos, Tsoukarela (2,295m.) And to the south it is embraced by the rocks of the peak Megas Trapos (2,240m.).
Legend has it that a dragon lived in the waters of Verliga. In the form of a snake, it was thrown through the rock and crawling, it sank back to the ground, where the water leaves. From the point where the dragon came out, water sprang up, which follows its serpentine course on the meadows.
