Exploring breathtaking Valia Calda!

Another unique excursion is organized by Greece Adventure Trips in collaboration with Mountain Xcursions for its friends, adventure lovers, wildlife travelers, those who dream of finding themselves in landscapes driven by fairy tales amidst streams, rivers, waterfalls in a unique wildlife paradise of our country !!! The dreamy Valia Calda, with the famous Arkudorema one of the last wildlife habitats of our country, a heavenly place that will remain indelible in our memory of its natural beauty !!!

There we will walk next to the Mythical Aoos, cross the incredible Pine and Fir Forests, drink enchanted water that springs fresh, from springs splashed through the earth !!! We will cross the Arkudorema and climb to the famous Phlegons a beautiful complex of twin lakes that run next to the backbone we cross, in the Arkudorema and from there to the imposing Aoos ....

A unique journey for the hiker who does not stop to discover the unique beauties of the mountain and nature !!

Friday, May 1st

Start up and first hike

• 5:50 pm at Syntagma Square. We depart at 06:00.
• 6:20 stop in Kifissia. (detailed information and point will be sent to maps after booking).

We head to the National Road to the village of Spilaio, a beautiful mountain village built on the slope of Mount Orliakas.

From there we will start our first hike of the day, a downhill, very beautiful and easy route to the picturesque Portica Gorge !! A beautiful three-arched stone bridge that joins the Cave with the opposite rock formation of Lykotrypa, leaving one of the largest rivers in Greece, Venice !!! Our route takes a beautiful stone path to reach Portitsa Bridge after about 45 minutes.

There, the most adventurous friends can soak their feet in the crystal clear waters of Venice, while others will take endless photos in the unique landscape that forms within the canyon.

We return from the same path back up this time to return to the cave village where we will eat unique dishes in the picturesque square of the village.

After eating, we continue our drive to the scenic Vovousa by road, and after crossing it completely, we reach the core of the National Park, in a fairytale sanctuary, built in spectacular Firs with Aoos passing right by it !!!

This enchanting place will also be the focal point of our three-day getaway.

There we settle in the dorms and relax for the rest of the day in the warmth of its cozy lounge, with delicious food and great handmade pies waiting for us !!

Saturday, May 2

Arkoudorema Lakes Flegga

"Crossing this natural forest is an experience you experience with all your senses"

We start early in the morning from the shelter to live a life experience !!! An experience we will remember forever !!

Group A.

Our route begins by crossing Aoos from Arkudorema and crossing the river 4 times in total as we continue along the riverbed.

The trail is clear without any slopes and soon we will reach the slides. There, Aoos meets Arkudorema and continues his final journey to the lake that forms which we will meet at the end of our journey. At that point we enter Arkudorema !! We continue to come across screens that we spend a lot of attention on. After a while we go downhill and reach the first crossing of the bear. We cross the river and follow the path that runs parallel to the Arkudorema with it to our left. After crossing the river for the last time we come across the waterfalls of Arkoudorema where we will stop for a little snack, and after a while we find the starting point for the Fleggas trail. We climb among tall robes in a uniquely beautiful landscape on a well-marked path. Soon the landscape becomes Alpine and we find the neck beneath it the beautiful twin lakes Flegga !!!

We climb up to the top of the neck and below we see a unique sight: The twin lakes run into each other and end up in Arkudorema, and the entire Forest stretches through dense Fir and Pine forests with steep canyons and streams to surround him composing a unique sense of boundlessness and greatness !!!

The adventure does not end here .... We continue on our necks and into a vast Alpine meadow and we descend for a short while watching a unique sight of the artificial lake of Aoos. We continue downhill and pass the Montenegrin Mountain Reserve and from there to a dirt road we now reach the provincial road where the bus will wait for us to take us to the refuge.

Group B

For our beginner friends we will follow a shorter route that will be shared with the first team as the waterfalls of the Arkudorema Lake !! There we will rest and stop for snacks and water. This group will return from the same path back to the refuge

• Degree of difficulty: A + (Moderate fitness)

The night will find us in the refuge listing the images and emotions that only nature can generously give us ...

Sunday, May 3rd

Vovousa - Waterfall - Valia Stathi

The last day of our hike will give us an easy and beautiful route on an unfamiliar path to the very world, the one that connects Vovousa with Distrato and then with the famous Samarina !!! The trail starts just outside Vovousa and runs through beautiful forests and streams without steep slopes. We will cross it to the first part and return behind the same spot, meeting beautiful streams with running water to cross. A relatively walkable route with no technical difficulties, perfect for a great weekend!

Friends who do not wish to hike the last day can tour Vovousa to drink and eat in the village square enjoying the beauty of the landscape with Aoos rushing under their feet !!!

Returning and the hiking group we eat lunch in Vovousa and return to Athens early in the afternoon.
