Activity Description
One of the most important streams of Olympus as it has been connected with the god of modern music, Orpheus. The river was called Helikonas but the Pierides Muses, Mainades, wanted to wash their hands in the clear water to atone for sin, the river was stained with Orpheus' blood and since then it was named "Vafiras" by what was painted or "Orlias" by the cry of Orpheus. It's the waterfall of St. John's. Daughter with special beauty, the Byzantine monastery of the Agia Triada the old Vrontos with the post-Byzantine church, and the panoramic view to Katerini and Thermaikos Bay.
Itinerary
We will first visit the pedestals and waterfalls low in the Orlia stream so that there are no people, dives, photos and we left to catch the second point the waterfall and the lake of Ag. Daughter. In a landscape of unique beauty well hidden we will have time to enjoy the waterfall with our wonderful lake, coolness, sun, and snack. Through a short circular route, we will visit the chapel of Ag. Daughter and from there we will board the car and in 5 minutes we will be in a forgotten Byzantine monastery, the monastery of Ag. Trinity with beautiful frescoes, then we will visit the ruins of the village of old Vrontos with its post-Byzantine temple and the panoramic view to the plain of Katerini and the Thermaikos Gulf.
