Horseriding Holidays and sightseeing in Western Crete (8 days)

Take the opportunity to explore the most amazing destinations of Western Crete on horseback and not only!

The route is circular and first, we will ride toward the beach, and then we follow the coastline until we reach the western end of Crete.

Theν following mountain paths we visit villages while gazing at the Cretan blue sea until we return to the stables.

Duration: 6 days riding with 3-6 hours riding per day / 7 nights - 8 days

Day 1

Arrive at the hotel near the stables to settle. Late afternoon we transfer you to the premises of Deres Horseriding Center where you will meet the team and get to know the horse assigned to you.

Day 2

Enjoy breakfast and then you will be transferred to the stables. The tour begins around 09:30 in the morning. The scenery is beautiful and we ride through paths to reach our first stop at the Ancient Olive Tree. There we rest and have lunch. There is a museum with equipment used in the old days to produce olive oil that you may as well visit. We continue our way until we reach the beach of Nopigia where we will spend our first night. Swimming with the horses is also an option.

Day 3

We start with breakfast and then we ride along the long sandy beach to reach Kasteli. There we will settle at the hotel and take either the sailing/motor boat or the minivan (depending on the weather) to visit Balos Lagoon. It will be a fun relaxing day to one of the most beautiful and famous beaches of Western Crete. We return late afternoon and rest at the hotel. Dinner in a local tavern. Free time to visit Kasteli.

Day 4

We have an early breakfast and get on the saddle to continue our quest. We reach the longest beach of Chania Prefecture, Falassarna, where we take a dive in the crystal turquoise waters and have lunch at a local tavern with an amazing view. Late afternoon and before sunset, we ride along the beach till we reach the end of it to Limeniskos, where we will settle for the night. You will have the chance to see the sunset in the sea! Amazing indeed.

Day 5

This is the day we leave the beaches behind and start ascending the mountains to visit villages and admire the breathtaking views. On our way, we will have lunch at a tavern or barbeque outdoors. Our next stop will be the village of Polyrrinia where we will also visit the ancient Acropolis, high up in the mountain with a breathtaking view to Kissamos Bay. We will spend the night either in Polyrrinia or at the next village depending on the pace of the ride.

Day 6

It is always unique to start the day by waking up in a village in the mountain. We take breakfast and then continue our ride visiting villages on the way and tasting delicious traditional Cretan dishes. The night will be spent in tents and have a barbeque; In case the weather is not in our favor then alternative accommodation will be provided.

Day 7

In the morning we get breakfast and get ready for the last part of our riding trip. We will have a stop for light lunch and then we reach the stables late afternoon where we will have and then you will be transferred to spend and relax the last night at your hotel.

Day 8

Departure day. Enjoy breakfast and have free time until check out at 12:00.

Notes

• During the tour your backpacks and personal things will be transferred to each stop, so you will not need to carry them.
• We will spend the night in small hotels/village homes/camping.
• Accommodation, Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included in the price.
• Transfer from the hotel to the stables and back on the first and last day are included
