3-day Hiking Trip in Pelion on 26-28/4 (transfer from Athens)

Spring in beautiful Pelion! Transfer by bus to Milies Pelion, accommodation in traditional guesthouses in the village where we will be our base for 2 days of wonderful hikes and good food. We will enjoy routes in the forest, we will visit traditional villages, we will admire the view of the Aegean and Pagasitikos from above, we will drink local tsipoura. The first day's hike is around 13km and the second 7km. A different excursion to a special destination!

Three-day program:

Friday 26/4

• 18:00 - Meeting at Doukissis Placentias metro and departure by bus. Our trip to Milies will take about 4 hours including a stop at Kamena Vourla for food (not included in the price). Inside the bus, the "Walking Holidays" guide will inform us about the two-day program.
• 23:00 – Arrival in Milies and settling in the rooms

Saturday 27/4

• 08:00 – Breakfast at the Guest House
• 09:30 – Meeting at the central square of Milea and start of the hike.
• 13:30 – We approach the village of Xurihti (8km). Lunch pack
• 15:30 – We arrive in Tsagarada at the Square of Agioi Taxiarhon (3km) and continue on the cobblestones to the Square of Ag. Paraskevi (1.5 km). Free time for coffee under the giant plane tree
• 18:00 – Departure by bus to Milies
• Dinner in Milies and evening entertainment in a local bar (not included in the price)

Sunday 28/4

• 08:00 – Breakfast at the Guest House
• 09:30 – Meeting at the central square of Milea and start of the hike (7km).
• 12:30 – Arrival at Kala Nera. Coffee break.
• 13:30 – Departure for Volos
• 14:00 – Lunch at Tsipouradiko
• 16:00 – Departure for Athens

Description of Routes

1st day

Beautiful path that connects the villages of Milies and Tsagarada. It starts from the square of Milea on traditional cobblestones and under chestnut trees, various kinds of oaks, holly, gorse, heather and at intervals, large beautiful beech stands. The changes in the landscape are intense and unexpected, which makes the route particularly interesting and its completion unexpectedly easy

Approaching Tsagarada, the path passes between orchards with chestnuts, apple trees and other fruit trees. Also, depending on the season, for mushroom lovers, the route can reveal a rich variety of species, which cannot leave anyone unmoved! Then our route passes through the cobbled streets of Tsagarada where we can admire the architecture of this traditional Pelion village, quench our thirst in its cool fountains and drink coffee under the giant century-old plane tree in the square of Ag. Friday.

2nd Day

Our route starts from the square of Mileon and descends on the cobblestones to the beautiful station of "Moutzouris", the legendary train of Pelion. There we will walk for a while along the lines to the breathtaking "De Chirico" metal bridge. Return to the station and continue the downhill route on the cobblestones to Kala Nera. During the green route, the view either towards Pagasitikos or towards Milies and Vyzitsa keeps our interest undiminished!

Our next stop is the cave of the mythical Centaur Chiron. Short break there and continuation of the descent crossing the characteristic olive groves of central Pelion. Our route ends in "Kala Nera", a coastal village with dozens of restaurants and cafes, a magnet for thousands of visitors, especially in the summer months.

But our excursion is not over yet. We board the bus bound for Volos. There we will find ourselves in a traditional tsipouradik where we will eat for lunch in the special way of the Volians! Tsipouraki & appetizers for an ideal farewell meal!

Useful information:

Our routes are easy and have no special technical requirements. No previous experience is required. Hiking shoes and comfortable clothes (sports or mountaineering) always help the hiker and provide comfort and safety. Necessary equipment is a backpack, water bottle and raincoat. Optional: walking stick, sunscreen, hat.
