Activity Description
Welcome to a special eco-tour program! In the gorge of Batonia which extends between Mount Holomontas and Mount Vavdos to the mouth of the river in the Gulf of Sithonia-Kassandra. Along with it there are numerous geological formations, signs of time, which we present you from above, traveling millions of years ago. The high biodiversity of flora and fauna (freshwater fish, amphibians, colored dragonflies, sea turtles, etc.). Here the water continues to flow non-stop, carving the river banks.
Going up to the springs near the ''Wildlife Refuge of Ag. Prodromou '', a deeper gorge with imposing rocky cliffs with dense forests may remind you of a dream that we will live together in reality! Where the water of the gorge calls us louder with each turn to be a unique landscape that fascinates us!
Route
We welcome you at our starting point which is located at the intersection of the provincial road Triglia-Polygyros-Olynthos. From there, after parking our vehicles, we hike to the ecosystem.
Along the way, we make 2 intermediate stops at high points of the hill to see the geological formations and gaze at the special relief of the landscape carved by the river for millions of years. Then we approach near the gorge to admire the unique points up close. Then we descend further and reach one step from the streams with the running water and the journey of exploring this wonderful natural landscape continues!
After our unforgettable experiences, we leave the protected area and return behind a short road, to the place where we parked our vehicles!
