Hiking in Agali - The road to the top

The mind "cleanses" with beautiful images! Join the afternoon hike from the Agalis Refuge (943m altitude) to the Delphi peak (1743m altitude). we will reach the top and enjoy the unique panoramic view that little Fuji gives us.
Dirfi stands out as a massif in a long and narrow mountain range 40 kilometers long that also includes other smaller mountains, such as Xerovouni, Skoteini, Alokteri, Mavrovuni and Ortari. To the north the mountain falls sharply into the Aegean, to the east it is connected to Xerovouni and Skoteini, to the west it spreads out in an elongated low mountain range that "disappears" calmly to the stream that flows into the seaside Limnionas and to the south it ends in calm hills and small plains . The highest peak of Dirfi is the twin peak of Delphi which reaches 1,743 and 1,735 meters. In ancient times, the sanctuary of Dyrphya Hera was located at this point, as the mountain was known as the goddess's favorite retreat.
The view from the top is of unique beauty with the neighboring mountains, North Euboikos, the distant but imposing mountains of Central Greece making their appearance such as Helikon and Parnassos. In the East, the Aegean Sea steals the show since the Euboean coast is only 4 kilometers away. Sporades and Skyros look crystal clear.
The hike lasts 6 1/2 hours, is of moderate difficulty and requires previous mountain experience.
- 08:00 we gather at the Agalis Refuge.
- 08:20 after a short briefing we start the hike.
- 12:00 we reach the top (1943m)
- 12:30 we start the descent to the Agalis Refuge
- 15:30 Arrival at the Shelter.
