Sea Kayak Trip at Bali, Crete
Activity Description
This is the easiest kayaking trip to access by transport either from Chania, Rethymno, or Heraklio towns. The trip has remote beaches, great rocky formations, and some hidden places for cliff jumping (see pictures above)!
Usually, the weather is calm in the area thus making it a great choice for non-experienced paddlers. The distance of the trip if the group has no or limited experience is about 15 km while it can easily be extended up to 21 km for those looking to paddle more.
Many times we are lucky enough to see sea turtles. Out of the seven species in the world, only three can be regularly found in the Mediterranean. Of these three only the loggerhead sea turtle nests in Greece. Some of the most important nesting beaches are on Crete (Rethymno, Bay of Chania, and Bay of Messara).
OVERVIEW OF THE TRIP
When we meet in Bali there will be a short introduction to kayaking which includes a brief description of paddling strokes and the basics of safety. We will then adjust our paddles, kayaks, and buoyancy aids and get ready for the kayaking trip. The options that we got are either to paddle towards the eastern part or the west. The west is more exposed and usually a better option for experienced paddlers. If we end up paddling on this part you will need to pack your lunch as there isn't anything (not even a single house) to stop apart from some nice remote rocky beaches. You will be notified by email if you need to pick up your lunch.
Tandem (double) kayaks are available to those that they prefer; tandem will also be given to paddlers without any experience unless it is calm and you ask for a single kayak. Bare in mind that the kayaks we have are not recreational (wide and stable), are true sea kayaks.
TRANSPORT
We pick up clients from Heraklion. Many times we are able to pick up clients from other locations as well but it needs to be on our way to the starting point. If you need transport and you are not sure get in touch with us. Remember to send us the exact location of your hotel, not just the name. Transport is provided for free. From Chania or Rethymno regions we don't provide transport, you will need to get either by bus or taxi. From Chania is about an hour and fifteen minutes, from Rethymno about 30 minutes and from Heraklion around 45 minutes.
See the map for the exact meeting point, it is just next to Livadi beach near Bali. There is a big parking (free access) about 10 minutes walk from the bus stop. We start at 10 am and finish between 4-5 pm. If the time change for any reason you will be notified by email.

Cancellation policy
- Cancellation 7 days or more prior to the agreed activity starting date. You are automatically reimbursed for the full activity price.
- Cancellation between 3 and 7 days prior to the agreed activity starting date. You are entitled to a 50% reimbursement.
- Cancellation 3 days or later are what we call last-minute cancellations. No reimbursements will be effected.
* If the activity is canceled by the activity provider (due to weather, non-completion of minimum entries, force majeure, etc.), the price of your activity, is refunded in full.

- Many activities are based on the weather, so it is recommended that you contact the company before the activity.
- It is a good idea to be at the meeting point on time, before the scheduled start time.
- After your reservation it is enough to give your details to the cooperating company so that you can carry out your activity. However, it is recommended that you have the booking confirmed in digital or printed form.
